Teacher's Grant
Grants for Supplies
A primary program of the Keystone Teachers Association Foundation is to provide grants to teachers for classroom supplies. Due to the changing economic climate, our public schools continue to experience financial cutbacks at all levels. This program will allow for the support of classroom educators by making it possible for them to get supplies and educational materials which will be utilized with or for their students.
This program was successfully administered in previous years through the coordinated efforts of the Keystone Teachers Association and donations from the Association of various donations. Through these grant funds, the Keystone Teachers Association issued $15,000 to over 50 dedicated Pennsylvania Public School Teachers.
After the outpouring of applications received for these grant funds, the Keystone Teachers Association realized the need to create the Mid-Atlantic Professional Eductors Foundation so that this valuable program can continue along with creating and supporting further programs that support the classroom teachers and the advancement of students.

Excerpts From Past Grant Applications
Erica
3rd Grade Teacher
If I am awarded the funds, they will be used to buy the necessary materials needed to teach guided reading, books for my classroom library, and math manipulatives. I am a hands-on teacher and I love to have various materials for my students to use. Many of my students are visual learners and they need to be able to see and touch things in order to grasp new concepts.
Sonya
Elementary Physical Education Teacher
The funds will be used to help us integrate an educational gymnastic unit and a fitness unit into our curriculum. Educational gymnastics will help to increase kinesthetic awareness and develop the students as a whole. I will implement a fitness unit so that we can teach our students to be active in a variety of ways. By promoting fitness and having a variety of equipment we can motivate our students to get excited about staying fit.
Jessica
Middle School Art Teacher
I teach art and music to autistic students and have no special materials for them to use. They deserve items that stimulate them. I would like to provide paintbrushes, easels, scissors, tactile objects, instruments, and sensorimotor activities. Right now we draw with markers or crayons and listen to CDs. I’d love to open up more options for this class of students.
Michele
4th Grade Teacher
I will use these funds to purchase the supplies needed to implement Literacy Centers in my classroom. Literacy Centers allow students to be actively involved in ready, writing, listening and speaking while the teacher is providing small group instruction.
Daniel
High School Business Education
This grant will be used to enrich our current educational process. Specifically, the funds would be used to purchase supplies for teaching the four P’s of marketing by using crafts to develop a product and market it to a target market. Additionally, the funds would be used to create mind map posters for students’ resumes. Another project is to have students develop a business plan to make sandwiches for marketing.
Patrick
8th Grade Earth Science Teacher
Funds from this grant will be used in my Earth Science classroom to purchase mineral kits. These kits allow students to perform a hands-on activity where they apply their knowledge of mineral properties to identify a number of unknown samples in a tray of small gravel.
